The Christian Year: The Third Sunday of Lent
Prelude
Welcome & Announcements
Silent Meditation
O loving God,
To turn away from you is to fall,
To turn toward you is to rise,
And to stand before you is to abide forever.
Grant us, dear God,
In all our duties your help;
In all our uncertainties your guidance;
In all our dangers your protection;
And in all our sorrows your peace;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
-- Augustine of Hippo (354-430)
Call to Worship
Minister: Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things;
People: his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.
Minister: The LORD has made salvation known,
People: and revealed his righteousness to the nations.
Minister: He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to the house of Israel;
People: all the needs of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Minister: Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth,
People: burst into jubilant song with music;
Minister: make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing.
People: with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn—shout for joy before the LORD, the King.
Minister: Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
People: Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy;
Minister: let them sing before the LORD, for he comes to judge the earth.
All: He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.

Confession of Faith
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
Uniting Our Hearts in Prayer
Confession of Faith from the Shorter Catechism
Q. 100. What doth the preface of the Lord’s Prayer teach us?
People: The preface of the Lord’s Prayer, which is, Our Father which art in heaven, teacheth us to draw near to God with all holy reverence and confidence, as children to a father, able and ready to help us; and that we should pray with and for others.
